Flash Forest

- Engineer A Better World

Flash Forest is a reforestation company using aerial mapping software, drone technology, automation, ecological science and a lot of passion to reforest post-wildfire areas at a rapid pace.

I joined Flash Forest at the beginning of 2022 with one clear mission: to engineer a drone seed vessel deployment device, pretty much from scratch. The device I designed, manufactured, and patented with my engineering team enables a single drone to plant many many trees in one go, significantly outperforming traditional human tree planters in efficiency.

The success of this deployment device and our cross-country pilot in 2022 resulted in 1 million tree seeds being planted within the span of 3 months. which directly helped the company to secure $11.4 million in Series A round financing. I am proud of it.

DJI

- Mastery in Formation

DJI is the world's most famous commercial unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) for aerial photography and videography. However, few people are aware that it also designs and manufactures robots.

The secret projects I was part of has now been commercialized as the RoboMaster S1 and EP. Another project involved a multi-purpose, fully autonomous drone capable of performing many challenging tasks.

During my time as a project manager at DJI, one of my responsibilities was to communicate and report project milestones and progress to executives and headquarters via presentations. I led the team in completing the R&D process for 9 key projects ahead of schedule, which shortened the product development cycle by up to 12 months and achieved overall savings of over $5 million.

RoboMaster Robotics Team "Queen's Knights"

- My Heart and Soul

RoboMaster is robotics competition for teams of aspiring engineers to design and build next-generation robots that compete in projectile- based combat. The competition attracts close attention from hundreds of universities, nearly 1,000 high-tech enterprises, and thousands of fans from across the country.

I founded Queen's RoboMaster Robotics Team in 2018. We focus on developing mechanical, electrical, computer, and machine learning skills through the design and implementation of specialized robots.

During the 2019 season, our team maintained 30 active members with engaging robotics and technical research content. Our operations sub-team worked to implement proper management structures and processes to support our rapidly growing team and raised $20,000 CAD in funding. The successful year led to our team qualifying for the 2019 International RoboMaster competition in Shenzhen, China. As a newly formed club with limited funding, we had to work hard to be a competitive force against more experienced teams. Our success was displayed by a full lineup of robots and by claiming second prize at the competition.

FIRST Robotics Team 5516

- Where Dreams Took Off

FRC Team 5516 is the first successful robotics team that I founded.

At the peak time, we were one of the top-notch teams in China and won countless awards, helped establish more than ten new FRC teams, and were sponsored by the Shenzhen Government and the famous aerial camera company, DJI.

The countless glories and years have shown me that engineers are the future and the ones capable of changing the world.

So, I was determinated to become an engineer one day.
